2025 Achilles Stakes Betting Tips
We’re looking forward to the Achilles Stakes on Saturday and the betting market is starting to hot up. No Half Measures was off the pace at Newmarket at the start of this month, finishing ninth in the Palace House Stakes. A better run is expected here considering that the filly was apparently unsuited to the going on that occasion.
Previously to this, there was a solid outing at Longchamp when finishing fifth in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp. That was a competitive Group 1 encounter over five furlongs where the horse travelled well on soft ground. There was also a World Trophy Stakes victory at Newbury and perhaps we’ll see the charge bounce back.
Two Stars has banked consecutive successes and needs to be respected. The Irish raider was last seen triumphing at Naas when securing a half-length victory at the end of April. That came after a success at the Curragh where the favourite managed a comfortable win by nearly three lengths. There had previously been a smart showing at Doncaster.
Jasour has not been able to make an impression recently, although wind surgery could significantly improve matters. Last September, the horse was well down the pecking order in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh. The horse was tenth out of sixteen runners at Haydock in the Betfair Sprint Stakes although this could be a decent each-way wager.
2023 Achilles Stakes Tips
Saturday’s racing at Haydock Park kicks off with the Achilles Stakes, with this race taking place at 1.15pm and Regional is the market leader. Edward Bethell saw his horse recently land a victory at York Racecourse when scoring in the Lindum York Handicap on 18 May, with the runner securing a win over five furlongs and there was also third in the Stewards Cup.
Equilateral runs for trainer Charles Hills and there was an impressive showing at Haydock Park recently when finishing second in the Betfred Temple Stakes. Finishing just one length behind favourite Dramatised was a successful outing, with the horse previously running on three consecutive occasions at Meydan and there could be more to come.
Perdika is an interesting runner who could be open to big improvement at the age of three. The George Boughey-trained charge returned to the winners’ enclosure when winning the Prix Marchand d’Or at Chantilly in early June after finishing second to favourite White Lavender in the Prix de Saint-Georges, with the horse benefitting from a lower weight.
Nymphadora also can’t be discounted and the four-year-old also comes into the race off the back of a victory, with this coming at Chester on 11 May. This win in the CAA Stellar Handicap, with the horse also running well in the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes over five furlongs when being sent off at big odds of 25/1.
