2024 Hyde Novices Hurdle Betting Odds at Cheltenham racecourse

Friday, 15 November 2024

There could be as many as eleven runners lining up for the 2024 Hyde Novices Hurdle, with Valgrand bidding to continue his winning run. The Dan Skelton-trained runner has been clocking up the victories, although this is a competitive Cheltenham race where a number of horses are trading at single figure betting odds.

Minella Sixo has been twice in the winners’ enclosure this season, with Flying Fortune having been a serial winner and this is another one for the shortlist. Mr Percy is a four-year-old with plenty of talent, with the Joseph O’Brien-trained runner just ahead of Gale Mahler in the betting and the latter has plenty of wins under his belt.

2024 Hyde Novices Hurdle Tips

The 2024 Hyde Novices Hurdle will take some winning and perhaps it’s Valgrand who can deliver the goods. The five-year-old has registered a hat-trick of wins this season, with the latest victory coming at Cheltenham when winning the Sky Bet Novices’ Hurdle on 25 October. It was a staggering seventeen-lengths victory and a repeat performance could see a win here.

Previously to this, there had been a success at Bangor-on-Dee over two miles, three and a half furlongs, while there was another May success at Uttoxeter. However, Minella Sixo is another five-year-old with solid credentials and the Gordon Elliott-trained runner is carrying less weight than the favourite.

There was a second-placed finish at Cheltenham last time out when running well in a Novices’ Hurdle, with that coming after an eight-length victory at Fairyhouse. However, Flying Fortune is another horse that catches the eye and the five-year-old is bidding for a fifth consecutive win on Friday.

Last time out came a success at Chepstow, with the 2/1 favourite triumphing by seven lengths in Persian War Novices’ Hurdle and that came after two successes at Worcester. Previously to this, there was a win at Market Rasen and it’s also noticeable that this horse is near the bottom of the weights order which should be an advantage.
