2024 Doncaster Mares’ Hurdle Tips
Dan Skelton looks to be mob-handed when it comes to the Doncaster Mares’ Hurdle, with the trainer having Kateira, West Balboa and Take No Chances. The former was able to land a victory at Kempton at the end of November when fending off four other runners, with a success at Aintree proving impressive back in April.
West Balboa hasn’t shown particularly bright form so far this season, although the eight-year-old has been respected by the bookmakers. Back in April, there was a third-placed finish in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle at Aintree over three miles, half a furlong. However, there have been disappointing showings at Worcester and Bangor-on-Dee.
Gale Mahler was last seen running at Cheltenham in a small field, with the horse somewhat off the pace behind Potters Charm and Valgrand, with the latter also landing a commanding victory at the same track a few weeks earlier. However, that was preceded by a string of victories at courses such as Galway, Market Rasen and Uttoxeter.
Take No Chances is another Dan Skelton-trained runner who has scored a couple of successes this season, with the six-year-old having finished fifth out of seven runners at Newcastle last time out. That was in the competitive Fighting Fifth Hurdle, with a previous success coming in a Mares’ Hurdle race at Wetherby.
