2024 Solonaway Stakes Betting Odds at Leopardstown racecourse

Saturday, 14 September 2024

We’ve got a Group 2 encounter taking place at Leopardstown on Saturday, with the runners and riders competing over the distance of one mile. Diego Velazquez is a talented three-year-old who bagged a victory last time out, with the horse enjoying a massive seven-length triumph when last seen running at Leopardstown.

Maljoom has also been respected by the market although Mutasarref is trading at a much bigger price and the horse has bagged three victories from five appearances this season. Poker Face could also be in the frame, with Mountain Bear having finished second in his last outing and there’s scope for the horse to improve.

2024 Solonaway Stakes Tips

Diego Velazquez was in the winners enclosure last time out and the bookies have reacted to that victory by installing the horse as favourite to win the Solonaway Stakes. The horse was sent off as the 8/11 favourite at Leopardstown before winning over one mile and one furlong, with this coming after a fairly disappointing showing at Ascot.

Sent off as the 2/1 favourite in the King Edward VII Stakes, the horse could only finish tenth in the pecking order, with Maljoom an older adversary who was only able to register an eighth-placed finish in his previous race. The William Haggas-trained charge performed well at odds of 28/1 in a Juddmonte International which was won by City Of Troy.

There was previously a second-placed finish in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, with a solid third place coming in the Queen Anne Stakes. However, we like the look of Mutasarref at a bigger price considering that the runner has clocked up three victories from five outings this season.

The six-year-old was victorious against seven other runners at Leopardstown in early August, with this coming after finishing third at the Curragh. There was previously another win at Leopardstown and we can’t get away from the fact that this horse has performed so well at this racecourse this season.
