2025 Newbury Handicap Hurdle Betting Odds at Newbury racecourse

Saturday, 08 February 2025

Brave Troop, Golden Ace and Joyeuse are just three of the many runners that can come through to land a victory in the Newbury Handicap Hurdle. This is going to be a race where the bookies offer lots of extra places to each-way punters, while it might also be worth shopping around to get odds boosts for some of the individual selections.

Secret Squirrel was a winner for Hughie Morrison last time out and it will be interesting to see how some of the bigger-priced runners fare, including Fiercely Proud, Navajo Indy and Washington. The latter has landed a double success this season and there could be more to come from the Harry Derham-trained runner.

2025 Newbury Handicap Hurdle Tips

There are now odds available for the Newbury Handicap Hurdle and the chance to place early wagers on the William Hill-sponsored race. Brave Troop has claimed successive wins this season and might still be favourably weighted for an encounter over two miles, half a furlong. The six-year-old could well finish in the frame.

However, there’s also a big chance for Golden Ace to perform well and the horse has been in the mix in the previous two races. Jeremy Scott’s seven-year-old has plenty of weight to contend with although there’s still some mileage in considering a horse who has run in some competitive fields this term and done himself proud.

Nicky Henderson will be hoping that Joyeuse makes the cut and this horse could well beat the handicapper based on efforts so far this season. The runner ran well at Cheltenham in mid-December when finishing second as the 5/2 favourite and that came after a strong effort at Ascot in the previous month when finishing third.

Another six-year-old worthy of consideration is Secret Squirrel who has been performing well for Hughie Morrison this term. Having fallen in his previous race, he was able to bounce back to land a victory at Windsor in the middle of January, with that coming by two lengths as the 11/4 favourite for that particular encounter.
