2024 Conditional Jockeys Handicap Chase Betting Odds at Wincanton racecourse

Saturday, 09 November 2024

There are eight runners set to line up in the Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Chase and it could be a case of which horse is able to stay the course best. After all, it’s two miles and four furlongs of the Wincanton track, with the going good for a race where Tedley is bidding for a third consecutive victory and he could be the one to beat.

Nigel Twiston-Davies saddles a runner who is ahead of Beau Balko in the betting, with Paul Nicholls hoping for his six-year-old to be competitive. There could also be more to come from Duke Of Luckley, with the seven-year-old coming ahead of Dreaming Blue and Enjoy Your Life in the betting market.

Tedley could be the one to beat and there’s been everything to like about the horse’s recent performances. The five-year-old was successful at Wetherby in early November, with the runner obliging over two miles, three and a half furlongs. This came after a success at Uttoxeter, with the Twiston-Davies-trained runner capable of more improvement.

Beau Balko is another talented horse who finished third in his previous encounter, with Paul Nicholls training a runner who performed well at Kempton Park over two miles and two furlongs. Nearer the beginning of the year, there was a success at Musselburgh Racecourse although wins have been largely scarce over the past few runs.

Duke Of Luckley is the shortest-priced seven-year-old in the field, with Martin Keighley saddling a horse who followed up two runner-up spots with a victory last time out. There were back to back second places at Worcester before a victory at Southwell a few weeks ago and there could be another promising performance here.

The next two in the betting are Dreaming Blue and Enjoy Your Life, with the former trained by Anthony Honeyball. It was back to back successes at the end of last season, with those victories coming at Fontwell, with Venetia Williams saddling the latter and this could end up being each-way value based on previous efforts.

Petticoat Lucy was sent off as the 11/4 favourite to win a handicap chase at Exeter towards the end of October, with the horse duly obliging by two lengths in this two mile, three furlong encounter. This came after previously succeeding at Newton Abbot when achieving a bigger margin of victory over two miles and five furlongs.

Plenty Of Time was also successful last time out, with the Syd Hosie-trained runner bidding to complete a double in this race. Sent off at odds of 12/1 in the Challenger Mares' Novices' Handicap Chase, the horse was able to win by two and a half lengths over two miles and four furlongs, with more potentially to come from this charge.

Huelgoat hasn’t been in the winners’ enclosure over the past few races although there was a respectable fourth-placed finish in a big handicap at Worcester towards the end of September. Paul Nicholls trains a runner who has enjoyed a spate of experience although the wins have been few and far between.

Volkovka could be an interesting runner and hasn’t been seen at a track since running at Ludlow in early April. A second-placed finish in a Mares’ Handicap Chase stands the horse in good stead, although Another Crick is another viable contender and much depends on whether the ten-year-old can defy a massive weight allowance.
