2024 Challenge Cup Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Saturday, 05 October 2024

It’s anyone’s guess as to who will win the BetMGM Challenge Cup, with this contest taking place over seven furlongs at Ascot Racecourse. There’s a decent-sized field lining up for this short distance race, with Fresh and Qirat among the favourites, although we recommend considering an each-way selection where you can get extra places.

Several of the runners have performed well this season, including Cerulean Bay who has won three of his previous four encounters, while Lethal Levi landed consecutive wins and the Karl Burke-trained runner will be joined by stablemate Thunder Run who has been in the winners’ enclosure on more than one occasion.

2024 BetMGM Challenge Cup Tips

Fresh is a seven-year-old who could put some of his younger rivals to the sword at Ascot, with James Fanshawe training a horse who was able to oblige with a victory at the same racecourse. The runner hasn’t been out of the places in the past three encounters and looks as solid an each-way pick as anything else in the race.

Qirat is trained by Ralph Beckett and there have been two wins for the three-year-old this term, with the latest success coming at Goodwood towards the end of August. This was a one length triumph over seven furlongs, with the 9/4 favourite obliging after finishing fifth in the bet365 Mile Handicap at Newmarket.

Cerulean Bay landed a win at Haydock in July before landing two smart victories at Thirsk before running at Leopardstown in the middle of September. Despite being sent off as the 7/2 favourite, the horse could only finish seventh although that previous hit rate might encourage some punters to take a chance on the runner.

Lethal Levi has each-way claims and there was everything to like about his most recent performance at Ayr where the 20/1 shot was able to triumph in the Gold Cup Handicap. It was a three-length success and that came after landing the spoils at Newbury where favourite Waleefy was beaten into second place.

2023 Howden Challenge Cup Tips

There are plenty of horses from a field of eighteen runners who have solid credentials when it comes to the Howden Challenge Cup. Baradar was able to oblige at odds of 100/30 at Doncaster in the middle of September, with the runner previously impressing at Ascot. There was a great win in the International Stakes at odds of 16/1.

Popmaster has been in the first two in the previous three races, with the horse runner-up over seven furlongs at Newbury Racecourse. In the bet365 Handicap at Ascot came a second-placed performance by the short distance of just a neck, with the best effort coming in a recent encounter in the Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes at Newbury.

Quinault was able to beat Popmaster at Ascot and there is plenty to recommend the Stuart Williams-trained runner who could be more progressive at the age of three. Indeed, this horse has won six of his seven efforts this term and has to be considered each-way value. There was a third-placed finish in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Handicap.

Fresh hasn’t been successful in any race this term although sixth place out of twenty-two runners at The Curragh, with this horse running well on good ground over six furlongs. There was also a fifth-placed finish out of seventeen in the Constantine Handicap, with Ramazan having finished second in the Ayr Gold Cup Handicap on 23 September.
