2026 Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes Betting Tips
Wise Approach is likely to go off as favourite in the Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes. Charlie Appleby saddles a runner who has won two of his previous three outings. Back in July, there was a success at Newbury when the horse obliged in the Irish Bowl Stakes over six furlongs. The 11/10 favourite was able to achieve a fairly comfortable win and came before a third-placed effort at Deauville.
It was a fine effort in the Sumbe Prix Morny, with the runner finishing less than a length behind Venetian Sun and favourite Gstaad. The latest success saw Wise Approach land the spoils as the 11/8 favourite in the Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes. That was a victory over six furlongs, with Brussels beaten into second.
The latter is now lining up in this contest hoping to reverse the form. Aidan O'Brien saddles a runner who was last seen finishing second at Del Mar back in October. In the Juvenile Cup Turf Sprint, there was less than a length separating him from eventual winner Cy Fair. That came after finishing second in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse.
Coppull ran five times as a two-year-old and will now aim to repeat some of his successes as a three-year-old. Electrolyte runs for Archie Watson and this is the highest-rated horse in the field when it comes to the Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes. Ryan Moore is on board the charge which ran wonderfully well at Chantilly back in September. On that occasion, the horse scored in the Prix Eclipse over six furlongs which was a bright display.
It’s also worth noting that the horse was a nose away from winning the Coventry Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting. The runner was sent off at odds of 40/1 on that occasion, with Electrolyte having finished second-last in the World Pool Vintage Stakes at Goodwood. However, there’s lots to recommend Big Mojo who has produced some smart efforts.
The three-year-old finished fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar in the beginning of November, with that coming after a second-placed showing at Doncaster Racecourse. That came in the Flying Childers Stakes which was a Group 2 affair, with the horse also running brightly in the Gimcrack Stakes.
Rebel’s Gamble has been able to land a few victories, with all of these efforts being on an all-weather surface. There was a success at Lingfield at the beginning of March, with the horse also securing a victory at Newcastle and Southwell.
