2024 Ribblesdale Stakes Betting Odds at Ascot racecourse

Thursday, 20 June 2024

There’s a fascinating encounter on Day 3 of the 2024 Royal Ascot meeting, with the Ribblesdale Stakes featuring three-year-old fillies battling it out in a Group 2 encounter. There are several runners who have landed victories coming into this race, with Ezeliya catching the eye after racking up a couple of successes this season.

Aidan O’Brien has a number of lively contenders including Opera Singer, Ylang Ylang and Content, with all of them likely to be among the favourites, while Dance Sequence runs for Charlie Appleby and boasts one of the highest official ratings in the field. Friendly Soul has the capability to go well for John & Thady Gosden.

2024 Ribblesdale Stakes Tips

The 2024 Ribblesdale Stakes will attract some three-year-old fillies including Ezeliya who runs for Dermot Weld and will be bidding to claim a fourth consecutive victory. The horse was last seen winning the Epsom Oaks when scoring a three-length win and the charge won going away after previously winning the Salsabil Stakes at Navan.

Dance Sequence is without a win this season although this filly finished second to Ezeliya in the Epsom Oaks, with the Charlie Appleby-trained charge having an official rating of 106. There was a ninth placed finish in the 1000 Guineas Stakes when being sent off at 13/2, with the runner previously finishing second in the Nell Gwynne Stakes as the 10/11 favourite.

Friendly Soul runs for John & Thady Gosden and there was a disappointing effort last time out when the 8/11 favourite finished dead last in the Musidora Stakes. Previously to this had been two victories, with the latest of these being a triumph in the Pretty Polly Stakes where favourite Kalpana was beaten into second place.

Opera Singer goes for Aidan O’Brien and the horse finished third in her last race, with Ylang Ylang bidding to bounce back after a disappointing effort in the Oaks where the 11/8 favourite was only able to finish sixth out of twelve runners. Previously to this was a fifth-placed finish in the 1,000 Guineas and improvement is needed this time around.

2023 Ribblesdale Stakes Tips

Infinite Cosmos is a filly that started out at Doncaster when finishing second in a Maiden Fillies’ Stakes before an accomplished victory at Newmarket in early May, with the 8/11 favourite landing a win by over four lengths. However, the runner was beaten by two other horses despite being the market leader in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes.

Interestingly, the horse that won that particular race was Soul Sister and perhaps it’s worth a second look at the John & Thady Gosden-trained charge. Frankie Dettori has a strong record in this race and the horse was able to win by four lengths, with the filly coming into the race after a victory in the Epsom Oaks when winning by two lengths over one mile and four furlongs.

In second place for the 2023 Oaks was Savethelastdance and this horse was sent off as the 5/6 favourite before falling short in this classice race at Newmarket. Perhaps this runner will bounce back considering there was a success when sent off as 8/11 favourite in the Cheshire Oaks before claiming an amazing twenty-two length victory.

Bluestocking is a Juddmonte-owned runner and we wouldn’t be hugely surprised if Ralph Beckett was able to land a victory with this horse. Last time out, it was a second-placed finish in the Haras De Bouquetot Fillies' Trial Stakes where the horse was a head away from victory over one mile and two furlongs, having originally won over a mile at Salisbury Racecourse.

2022 Ribblesdale Stakes Tips

This is one of the biggest horse races when it comes to Day Three of the 2022 Royal Ascot meeting, with Life Of Dreams having an interesting profile and perhaps this filly will give Charlie Appleby his first winner when it comes to the 2022 Ribblesdale Stakes.

The horse made his debut when winning the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, with the runner obliging as the 4/5 favourite over one mile and two furlongs. The Godolphin-owned charge then stepped up in class and competed favourably in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes over one mile, two-and-a-half furlongs.

Emily Upjohn was able to oblige as the 4/7 favourite, with Life Of Dreams finishing five and a half lengths behind although the competition might not be as stiff. The big question is whether a lack of experience might prove telling.

Beyond the two Appleby horses, Emily Upjohn could take her chances in this race although the John Gosden-trained runner has a number of Royal Ascot entries. In four of the past five renewals of the race, the handler has experienced success with Coronet, Star Catcher, Frankly Darling and Loving Dream.
