2025 BetMGM Mares' Hurdle Tips
The BetMGM Mares' Hurdle is one of the highlight races at Ascot on Saturday and it will be intriguing to see if Kargese lives up to her billing. The five-year-old has been demonstrating some strong form this term, with a victory coming at Punchestown in April and there have previously been other smart showings.
The horse performed well when finishing second to Sir Gino in a four-year-old Juvenile Hurdle back in April, while this came after a solid effort at Cheltenham. In the JCB Triumph Hurdle, the mare was only one and a half lengths behind eventual winner Majborough and perhaps she will record a victory at the Festival next March.
Take No Chances runs for Dan Skelton, with the latest effort coming at Cheltenham where the horse was able to finish third out of a field of twelve. This came after finding the going a bit tough at Newcastle when finishing fifth out of seven, while there was a smart win at Wetherby in the preceding race where a ten-length victory was recorded in the Mares’ Hurdle.
Casa No Mento is another seven-year-old who could go well for Nigel Twiston-Davies, with the horse landing a victory at Punchestown in early May. After this, the horse was pulled up at Kempton Park in October and there’s improvement that the horse needs to find when it comes to the most recent effort at Bangor-On-Dee.

West Balboa has a point to prove after failing to emerge with any credit at Ascot in December, although the bookies still have the horse as a strong favourite to win this race. Previously to this underwhelming performance, there were three straight victories including an April success at Aintree where the horse landed a five-length triumph.
However, that flat performance in the Long Walk Hurdle means that punters might be looking for alternatives, with Marie’s Rock potentially a viable bet at a bigger price. This mare runs for trainer Nicky Henderson and the nine-year-old was second to Bob Olinger on New Year’s Day when running a solid race.
Tweed Skirt could also go well for Henderson and the seven-year-old looks well-weighted despite an impressive performance at Kempton Park on 27 December. There was a five-length victory as a 4/1 shot when obliging over three miles on good to soft ground, with the horse capable of making further progress for connections.
Coquelicot was sixth out of ten runners at Cheltenham in a Mares’ Handicap Hurdle and that sort of form could stack up well here. Anthony Honeyball previously saw his eight-year-old land a win at Kempton Park at the end of November, with the horse having previously finished second in the Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap.
