There’s an exciting hurdle race in store this coming Friday, with Cheltenham Racecourse hosting a Class 2 encounter where Doyen Quest could be the horse to beat. The six-year-old was last seen winning at Prestbury Park in November, with the 5/4 favourite obliging over three lengths and that came after finishing second in the Silver Trophy Handicap at Chepstow.
Gowel Road runs for Nigel Twiston-Davies and has claimed back to back runner-up performances, with the latest effort seeing the horse finishing five lengths behind Doyen Quest and that came after another second placed effort in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle and the horse previously ran well at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
Icare Allen finally landed a victory last time out, with the six-year-old having landed the spoils at Uttoxeter in his previous showing. There was a four and a half length success over nearly three miles, with that coming after a disappointing showing at the same track. We’re expecting more from this progressive type and he has to stand a chance.
Might I was successful for Harry Fry last time out and the eight-year-old was able to triumph at Bangor-on-Dee in November, with a slender victory being landed. This came after a solid performance at Haydock and there was also a bright showing at Aintree, with the horse finishing thirteenth in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham.

White Rhino has posted some impressive performances this season and the seven-year-old looks to be favourably weighted for this handicap race. Last time out, the horse finished second to American Sniper at Cheltenham Racecourse, putting together a solid performance and perhaps there’s scope for the runner to go one better when lining up here.
Gyenyame has posted back-to-back runner-up spots and the Joe Tizzard-trained runner was second in a nine-horse race at Cheltenham on 18 November, with this coming after running well at Wincanton at the end of October. Brendan Powell is on board a horse who looks to have solid each-way claims and the same could be said of Bold Endeavour.
The latter runs for trainer Nicky Henderson and the seven-year-old is one of the top weights in the race, with a fifth-placed finish occurring at Haydock out of fifteen runners towards the end of November. Previously to this was another solid showing at Newbury Racecourse and that came after impressing at Haydock and Cheltenham.
The Newest One achieved a victory for Nigel Twiston-Davies in a previous outing, with this coming against eight other runners at Chepstow. The 11/8 favourite was able to achieve a victory by a monster distance on that occasion after previously running smartly at Cheltenham when finishing second in the Paddy Power Games Handicap Hurdle.
