2026 Greenlands Stakes Betting Odds at Curragh racecourse

Saturday, 23 May 2026

There's some quality racing at the Curragh on Saturday, with nine races taking place that day. The highlight encounter could be the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes, with four horses all trading at similar odds at the head of the market. Almeraq could tick more boxes than any other runner, with William Haggas having a couple of lively horses against the field.

This horse could bounce back from a fall at the tail end of the previous campaign, with the same handler having Montassib and there's little difference in price between the two stablemates. Bucanero Fuerte is a five-year-old with a solid pedigree and Powerful Glory signed off for the previous season with a victory last time out.

2026 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes Betting Tips

William Haggas has two quality runners in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes and that includes Almeraq. The horse ran three times last season and it started with a surprise defeat at Yarmouth. However, there was then an eye-catching display at Ayr in July. Sent off as the 2/1 favourite, the runner was able to score by five lengths on good to soft ground.

This was an impressive performance which led to the runner being the market leader for a September race at York. The horse was actually well positioned in the Garrowby Stakes when having his heels clipped. Realistically, that might have ended in a victory and the price for this race would be a good deal shorter had that happened.

Bucanero Fuerte has run twice this season and looks a worthy competitor for Robson De Aguiar. The last outing was a fifth-placed finish in a field of fifteen at Naas, with the horse only two and half lengths off the pace. It was over five furlongs and it could be that the runner needs a little further, with the horse having competed in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint last November.

Powerful Glory is a four-year-old who could come on from last season, with the horse having signed off with a victory last term. We were impressed by that British Champions Day success back in October. In the Champions Sprint Stakes, the horse was given no hope at 200/1 before stunning the crowds by beating 2/1 favourite Lazzat.
