2024 Irish Cesarewitch Betting Odds at Curragh racecourse

Sunday, 29 September 2024

There’s going to be a big field lining up at the Curragh on Sunday, with Aidan O’Brien and Joseph O’Brien both having some strong horses for this encounter. The betting market looks typically open for this race, with Belloccio potentially among the leading contenders and he was able to claim a victory last time out.

The Euphrates is a younger adversary and Aidan O’Brien might well saddle the winner, with some smart recent performances taking place. A Piece Of Heaven has also been successful this season, with Nurburgring trading at a backable each-way price along with The Equator, with the latter having clocked up back to back runner-up spots.

Belloccio is trading as favourite to win the Irish Cesarewitch, although that is perhaps down to landing a victory in his previous encounter. Willie Mullins trains a runner who won at Ascot when fending off fifteen rivals, with this coming after a maiden hurdle success at Punchestown when obliging by nine lengths in May.

The Euphrates is saddled by Aidan O’Brien and the three-year-old was able to score at Gowran Park at the end of July, with this being followed by a runner-up spot at Leopardstown before running into fourth in a competitive encounter at The Curragh, with the 40/1 shot performing really well in the Irish St Leger.

A Piece Of Heaven is a six-year-old who was able to triumph at Leopardstown in May, beating ten rivals before finishing seventh out of sixteen runners in the Copper Horse Handicap in a race that was won by Belloccio. Most recently came a third placed finish out of five horses in an Irish St Leger Trial Stakes.

The Equator could be one to watch, with the three-year-old having recorded back to back second places, with the latest one being runner-up in a sixteen horse race. It was a commendable performance in the Melrose Handicap over one mile and six furlongs, with the horse losing by just over a length in the end.

Tower Of London has achieved two wins already this season and they have come at Leopardstown and Down Royal respectively. In the King George V Cup at the former, there was a triumph over one mile and four furlongs, with this being followed by a comprehensive victory in the Ulster Derby over one mile and five furlongs.

However, the horse was beaten in the Bahrain Trophy Stakes at Newmarket last time out when being sent off as the odds-on favourite and perhaps punters will look at alternatives here. Absurde certainly catches the eye and there was lots to like about that Ebor Handicap victory over one mile and six furlongs when the horse beat favourite Sweet William.

Teed Up is an Irish raider who has claimed two wins in the past three races, with the latest coming in a handicap hurdle race at Galway, although the horse was previously sent off as the 5/2 favourite in the Guinness Handicap before being beaten by Brazil, a horse who is also entered in this encounter and merits respect.

Valiant King finished fifth out of seven horses in the Paddy Power Stakes at Leopardstown last time out and needs to find improvement, although that came after a more impressive showing in the Ballyroan Stakes at Newbury Racecourse, with the horse finishing narrowly behind odds-on favourite Vauban on soft ground.

Earl of Tyrone is a talented four-year-old who has won three of his five races and finished third in the other two. Last time out, the horse was able to be among the places in the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap at York Racecourse, with the runner finishing just over a length behind eventual winner Trawlerman.

Previously to this, there had been some strong form in Ireland. There was a win in a listed race in the form of the Martin Molony Stakes, with that coming over one mile and four furlongs meaning that more stamina is required although there was a win over a mile and six furlongs at The Curragh at the beginning of June.

Waterville has been in the places in all five races this season and will therefore be a warm order from an each-way horse racing bet, with the runner finishing second to Point King at Leopardstown over one mile and five furlongs, with the horse having won over two miles and one furlong at Limerick.

Echoes In Rain had an eye-catching win at Galway Racecourse last time out, with Willie Mullins having a flat horse that could secure a big win at The Curragh. Having won over two miles and one furlong in that encounter, there is plenty to like about a runner that finished second in the Irish Champion Hurdle.
