2024 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Tips
Big Mojo is an English raider in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint and some of his form suggests that he could finish among the places in this race. The latest outing came at Doncaster in the middle of September, with the horse finishing second in the Flying Childers Stakes after previously finishing fourth in the Gimcrack Stakes.
There’s an exciting Japanese horse lining up for this race and Ecoro Sieg has been making headlines after breaking a 23-year record at Nakayama after covering the 1,200m track faster than any other two-year-old. It was a two and a half length success in the Canna Stakes and he should go well at Del Mar over a distance of 1,000 metres.
Aesterius is perhaps the value in the race after landing successive victories leading into this encounter. There was a victory in mid-September when seeing off Big Mojo by a neck and that came after a notable success at Longchamp when winning the Prix d’Arenberg. There was also a strong performance in the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood.
However, there’s a strong US representative in the form of Governor Sam, with this horse having strung together four consecutive successes in the lead-up to this big race. The latest victory came at Keeneland when winning in a field of twelve horses, with that success coming in the Indian Summer Stakes and there could be more to come.
2023 Juvenile Turf Sprint Tips
Big Evs has won three of his previous five encounters and there was a victory in the middle of September when the horse was able to secure a win in the Flying Childers Stakes. This Group 2 encounter saw the Michael Appleby-trained runner able to claim a victory by nearly three lengths, with the horse bouncing back after a disappointing run at York.
In early August, we saw Big Evs win the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, with jockey Jason Hart steering the horse to a slender victory of a neck against Purosangue. The advantage that this horse often has is the ability to start quickly, with a smart win coming in the previous race when the charge was able to secure the spoils in the Windsor Castle Stakes.
Adrian Murray trains Bucanero Forte who has run four times at the Curragh and three of these appearances resulted in a victory. However, the horse finished third out of four in the National Stakes over seven furlongs. Perhaps a shorter distance might suit here, with the previous outing seeing the horse oblige over six furlongs in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.
We’re intrigued to see how Crimson Advocate will perform considering that the two-year-old was last seen securing a win in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. The horse was able to come through to land the spoils in a big field of runners, with that coming after a victory in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
2022 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Tips
The 2022 Juvenile Turf Sprint looks set to be a thrilling encounter, with Blackbeard looking to continue a winning run that has recently seen the two-year-old record a hat-trick of victories. The first of these came in the Darley Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly over six furlongs where the horse was sent off as the 6/5 favourite and duly obliged before heading back to France and recording another win at Deauville.
Again, this was a six furlong triumph in the Darley Prix Morny - Finale des Darley Series where Blackbeard was able to narrowly beat favourite Persian Force by half a length, with Ryan Moore steering him to success before the same horse lined up in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes on 24 September and was able to win by two lengths.
However, this is a different kind of test at Keeneland and there is plenty to like about The Platinum Queen who beat a big field last time out. She was able to oblige as the 7/5 favourite and win the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines which was achieved on very soft ground, although the going might not suit her at the Breeders’ Cup meeting.
Speed Boat Beach is the pick of the US-trained runners in the field and this one is trained by the legendary Bob Baffert. There have been wins at Del Mar and Santa Anita for this talented horse, with a facile victory in the Speakeasy Stakes coming after a Maiden Special Weight triumph over five and a half furlongs.
