However, there appears to be an exciting British raider in the form of Circus Maximus and he certainly looks like a young pretender to the crown. The three-year-old has been making waves in England and looks set to run a big race if he makes it to America this autumn.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained charge won at Longchamp recently when fending off Romanised to win the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and this Group 1 victory over one mile will have filled connections with confidence that the horse can deliver in a Breeders’ Cup setting.
The horse was also a winner at Royal Ascot when winning the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes and perhaps he can cause some problems for Bricks And Mortar who has thus far been running against native American runners.
