2024 Desert Orchid Chase Tips
Boothill was second on his seasonal debut and the nine-year-old might not be too far away when it comes to the Desert Orchid Chase. It was a solid performance when finishing runner-up behind the impressive Jonbon at Cheltenham in mid-November, with this performance coming after wind surgery.
Finishing just one and a half lengths behind the 1/3 favourite could bode well for this Kempton Park encounter, although there could be a big threat to come from Martator. There has been a string of wins recorded by the seven-year-old, with Venetia Williams looking for her charge to continue the victory trail.
The most recent win came at Ascot towards the end of November, with that being an eleven-length success in a handicap chase over two miles and one furlong. That came after a win at the same track and it has now been five successive victories for a horse who could well represent the best betting value as far as the win market is concerned.
Edwardstone has been around the block and the ten-year-old was a faller last time out after previously finishing third behind Jonbon in the Shloer Chase, so there might be little to separate the horse from Boothill. However, there is a tendency to fall over the big obstacles and the runner is without a win in the previous four.
