2025 Trophy Handicap Chase Betting Odds at Kempton Park racecourse

Saturday, 22 February 2025

There’s a handsome purse available for the winner of the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase, with the field looking wide open for this encounter. Flegmatik was successful last time out and the nine-year-old is trading among the favourites to triumph, while Forward Plan also has a victory to his name this term and could be able to run well here.

Paul Nicholls has a leading contender in the form of Il Ridoto and there is also a chance for Kilbeg King, with Lord Baddesley and Tweed Skirt also trading among the market leaders. Perhaps Ga Law and Blackjack Magic can also make an impression and we’re excited to see how the betting market shapes up for this encounter.

Coral Trophy Handicap Chase Tips

Flegmatik looks set to be favourably weighted for this encounter and this horse looks to be among the leading contenders when it comes to the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase. The horse was last seen triumphing against six other runners at Kempton Park, with this being a two length victory in the New Year after previously impressing in other races.

There was a third placed finish out of ten runners at Ascot in the Howden Silver Cup and this is definitely one for the shortlist, although Forward Plan is another contender who has solid credentials. Anthony Honeyball saw his horse recently edged out at Doncaster when running in the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase.

Il Ridoto has claims to perform well in this race and Paul Nicholls will hope for a solid showing from the seven-year-old here, with the horse having hit the frame in all three encounters this year. It could mean that an each-way bet on the runner will land a sizeable return based on the current racing odds that are available.

Anthony Honeyball has Kilbeg King lining up and there has been three successive third-placed finishes for this horse, with Lord Baddesley coming into the race off the back of a runner-up spot where the runner narrowly missed out against Inch House. Chris Gordon will hope that the horse is favourably weighted to land the spoils.

2024 Coral Trophy Handicap Chase Tips

Kilbeg King has been installed as the antepost favourite to claim a victory when it comes to the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase, with nine-year-old having recorded three successive third-placed finishes this season. On Boxing Day at Kempton Park, the 28/1 shot ran a very credible race to finish behind Il Est Francais and Hermes Allen.

Forward Plan was triumphant at Doncaster in mid-December when obliging in the bet365 Handicap Chase and this was achieved over three miles on soft ground. More recently, the Anthony Honeyball-trained runner finished second to Annual Invictus in the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase, with the handler having a strong hand against the field.

Flegmatik was successful in the last outing when landing a victory at Kempton Park in the middle of January, with the runner able to beat six other runners when obliging at odds of 7/2. Previously to this, there was a third place finish in a field of ten at Ascot, with the horse having solid each-way claims from a big field when weighing up the form.

Il Ridoto represent Paul Nicholls’ best chance of success in this race, with the horse having one of the highest ratings in the field. The seven-year-old finished third out of thirteen horses in a handicap chase which was won by Ga Law, with the latter also set to line up in this race. We’re looking forward to comparing the latest prices to secure the value.

2023 Coral Trophy Handicap Chase Betting Tips

It’s worth having several bookmaker accounts for races such as the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase so that you can compare the various prices and get the best racing odds each time. Annsam could be a horse to consider from an each-way perspective and we saw the eight-year-old land an impressive victory last time out. It won over seventeen lengths at Kempton Park on 14 January and has to be respected on that performance.

Cap Du Nord also caught the eye last time out and the ten-year-old was second to Coopers Cross in the Sky Bet Handicap Chase on 28 January. It was an improvement after finishing dead last over three miles, two and a half furlongs at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, although it has been eight races without a win since landing the spoils in this race twelve months ago.

Our Power claimed the spoils in the Bateaux London Gold Cup Handicap Chase when winning by two lengths and there could be more to come from the Sam Thomas-trained runner. It ran pretty well to finish fifth in the Ultima Handicap Chase at last year’s Cheltenham Festival and we wouldn’t rule out another big run at a backable each-way price.

The Big Breakaway has enjoyed back-to-back second places this season and possesses plenty of class. The eight-year-old was able to finish second in the Welsh Grand National, so stamina and jumping shouldn’t be a problem for the Joe Tizzard-trained runner who was only edged out by a head in the Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase on 19 November.

2022 Coral Trophy Chase Betting Tips

Annsam will run for trainer Evan Williams and the Welsh handler could have a talented horse on his hands. The seven-year-old will be one of the younger contenders in the field, with jockey Adam Wedge riding the horse to victory in the Howden Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot Racecourse on 18 December 2021, with the horse previously in the frame when finishing third in a handicap race at Newbury.

Phoenix Way will run in the famous JP McManus colours of green and gold, with the Harry Fry-trained charge having finished second behind Annsam at Ascot, although the horse was able to go one better when winning the bet365 Handicap Chase. That was over two miles and five furlongs at Ascot Racecourse, with the horse now being tilted at a race over a longer distance.

What Are the Coral Trophy Chase Betting Tips?

We would argue that you should select a couple of horses against the field and there is the option to place a win only bet or alternatively an each-way wager. There are some interesting contenders and it includes Caribean Boy who runs for well-known trainer Nicky Henderson. The eight-year-old fell when running at Ascot in the same race as Annsam and Phoenix Way, although he bounced back with a victory.

James Bowen rode the horse to a triumph at Ascot and that was over three miles on soft ground, so we should mark out this horse as having strong stamina. Good Boy Bobby and Remastered are other horses that are among the horse racing betting odds favourites, with the former having recorded two wins at Wetherby this season. Sam Twiston-Davies gave the runner an excellent spin to win the William Hill Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase and it was even more impressive considering the horse led from the front.

Remastered is a David Pipe-trained runner who finished fifth in the Sam Vestey National Hunt Challenge Cup Novices' Chase at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival and certainly has the pedigree to run a big race. It will also be interesting to see which Paul Nicholls-trained runners line up for this encounter.

Nicholls could send Saint Calvados, Clan Des Obeaux and Enrilo over for this race and they’re all intriguing runners, with the former having finished third in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day and the fact that the horse was sent off at 25/1 meant that this finishing position was quite a statement.

Clan Des Obeaux doesn’t need any introduction and the horse was second in the same race, with the horse having bags of experience at the age of ten. This is a horse that won the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup on 28 April 2021 and there will certainly be punters interested in the big prices available.
