2023 Al Rayyan Stakes Tips
Yibir is capable of running a big race at Newbury and we’re confident of seeing a stellar performance over one mile and four furlongs, with the odds shortening about a horse who was last seen winning on the Newmarket July course last summer. Sent off as the 11/8 joint-favourite in the Princess of Wales’s Close Brothers Stakes, there was lots to like about a two length victory.
Previously to this, there was a run at Belmont Park a year ago where the horse was beaten as the odds-on favourite in the Man o’War Stakes and the charge was also chinned at very short odds when being sent off at 1/4 to win the Betfair Exchange Jockey Club Stakes, with Haskoy potentially the one to challenge the market leader.
The four-year-old delivered a strong performance to finish second in the St Leger Stakes at Doncaster before being demoted to fourth, although Frankie Dettori will hope that he can steer to a victory in this race that is hopefully without any controversy. That was over one mile, six and a half furlongs, with the horse potentially capable of fireworks over a shorter distance.
Israr was last seen finishing in a midfield position at Doncaster, with the 5/2 favourite flattering to deceive in the November Handicap over one mile and four furlongs, although this was on heavy ground. Perhaps he deserves a second chance and previous form indicates that the horse has got claims for a victory here.
