Mandarin Handicap Chase Results at Newbury — 29 December 2025

Monday, 29 December 2025

There are lots of horses operating at similar prices when it comes to the Mandarin Handicap Chase which takes place on 28 December, with the runners and riders competing over three miles and two furlongs. This encounter takes place at Newbury Racecourse, with as many as seventeen runners lining up for the contest.

That means that this could end up being a profitable each-way betting race and every horse is a backable price when it comes to running into a place. Brave Kingdom has plenty of experience when it comes to winning races and might go off as favourite, although Cruz Control might also be warm order.

2024 Mandarin Handicap Chase Tips

Brave Kingdom reappears nearly a year after his previous performance, with Paul Nicholls hoping that the runner isn’t too rusty after previously turning out at Ascot in February. On that occasion, the horse was pulled up although that followed three consecutive victories where wins were achieved at Taunton, Plumpton and Newbury.

Hoe Joly Smoke was able to record a runner-up and winner spot this season, with Dan Skelton now hoping that his six-year-old is able to rack up another victory. The latest success came at Sandown in early December, with the 9/4 favourite able to achieve a success by a big margin of victory which could bode well for this contest.

Cruz Control has run twice this term and not been in the first three either time, with the latest effort seeing the horse finish seventh out of nine at Aintree. Connections will hope that the runner can return to the sort of form which saw victories achieved at Newcastle and Aintree last spring, with a solid showing at Punchestown also coming.

Henry’s Friend has had two outings this term and the seven-year-old was able to finish fifth out of thirteen runners last term. That came after previously disappointing at Newbury when finishing last out of four, with better form demonstrated a year ago where successes were achieved at Hereford, Newbury and Ascot.
