Daiquiri Bay has not tasted victory in the past twelve months although perhaps this will change in the Betfred Handicap. The four-year-old was third in a field of twelve runners at Newmarket back in October. That was in the Old Rowley Handicap and came after a fifth placed effort at Ascot. There was also a solid eighth at Royal Ascot when running in the competitive King George V Stakes.
Dramatic Star is one of several five-year-olds among the favourites to win this race. William Haggas saddles a runner who has had a sixth and a seventh-placed finish on the all-weather this term. Those were appearances on the all-weather, with a decent effort coming at Southwell back in November when landing a runner-up spot over one mile and four furlongs.
French Master runs for John & Thady Gosden, with the five-year-old having notched two wins last term. The horse was able to score at Goodwood nearly twelve months ago, with the 5/4 favourite obliging over one mile and six furlongs on that occasion. Then came a significant win at Royal Ascot when landing the spoils in the Copper Horse Handicap.
We have Subsequent available at a similar price. Andrew Balding saddles a five-year-old who was in the winners' enclosure at Doncaster in September. The 12/1 shot was able to score by half a length over one mile, six and a half furlongs. That came after an impressive effort at York when finishing ninth in a big field at odds of 40/1.

More Thunder has been installed as the betting favourite to win the Betfred Handicap. William Haggas will be confident that his horse can feature strongly in this Newmarket showdown on Saturday. The four-year-old won at the same course in April when seeing off a field of twelve other runners and securing a winning distance of two lengths.
Woodhay Wonder was third on his seasonal debut and Tom Ward trains a runner who has just over three lengths to find on More Thunder after that race. Previously to this, the horse finished fairly low down the order in a competitive race at Ayr. However, there was a bright showing at Ascot in July after a solid effort at the royal meeting.
Aramram goes for Richard Hannon and the four-year-old was only narrowly behind More Thunder earlier this term, with that coming after finishing runner-up on the all-weather at Southwell Racecourse. Indeed, the horse was second at Kempton at the end of March and looks set to once again feature which means an each-way bet could be rewarded.
Lethal Levi could also be dangerous when it comes to this showing. Karl Burke trains a six-year-old who will be carrying more weight than any other horse in the field. That means that he’s the highest-rated runner, with the latest effort being third out of six horses at Newmarket and the 12/1 shot was only a length off the pace.
