2025 Jockey Club Stakes Betting Odds at Newmarket racecourse

Friday, 02 May 2025

There are eight runners and riders who are competing in the Jockey Club Stakes, with five horses trading at single figure betting odds to win this race. Lion’s Pride was third last time out and the four-year-old has the potential to put on a decent showing, while Time Lock makes a seasonal debut and could go well for Harry Charlton.

Charlie Appleby has a couple of competitive runners in the form of King Of Conquest and Castle Way, with little to separate the two Godolphin horses in the betting. There’s also the William Haggas-trained Naqeeb and the four-year-old was able to claim a couple of victories last season, although there’s been a long absence from the track.

2024 Jockey Club Stakes Tips

Lion’s Pride was last seen running on the all-weather at Kempton Racecourse, with this horse turning out on 1 April where he was able to finish third out of five runners. This came after a victory at the same course in November where we saw the charge fend off three other rivals, although there are plenty of lively contenders in this field.

Time Lock returns to the track after a 200-day absence and Harry Charlton will hope that jockey Ryan Moore can produce a winning ride on this mount. The five-year-old was last seen finishing midfield in a competitive race at Ascot, with that coming in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes, with the horse competing well in this contest.

King Of Conquest is a five-year-old who has a lively each-way chance, with this being one of two Godolphin horses who could run a big race. The fact that William Buick has chosen to ride this charge suggests he has the best chance of the Charlie Appleby-trained runners, with the horse finishing fourth out of ten runners in Bahrain last time out.

Castle Way was also fourth in his previous showing, with this coming out of nine runners at Meydan where the horse performed reasonably well in a competitive heat. This came after a second-placed finish at York, with the last victory being on the July course at Newmarket where the runner was able to fend off five other rivals.
