The Sydney Cup has been won by the likes of Explosive Jack, Circle Of Fire and Arapaho in recent years and we're now looking forward to the 2026 renewal. Mr Monaco could be the one to beat, with Ciaron Maher's charge having landed a couple of notable recent wins. However, Soul Of Spain boasts impressive credentials and could be a big contender.

Chris Waller's charge hasn't been in the winners' enclosure recently and perhaps a better alternative could be Campaldino who collected a couple of notable wins at Eagle Farm last year. He has four lengths to find on Mr Monaco and there are several other contenders trading at a similar price. This includes Birdman, Machine Gun Gracie and Paradise Storm.

2026 Sydney Cup Betting Tips

There are any number of horses that can win the Sydney Cup, with Mr Monaco having been installed as the bookmaker favourite. Back in October, there was a success at Caulfield in a handicap over one mile and four furlongs. More recently, a triumph was registered in the Precise Air N E Manion Cup at Rosehill in March over one mile and four furlongs.

Soul Of Spain could emerge victorious despite the five-year-old struggling to get wins on the board in recent times. The latest effort came at Rosehill Racecourse at the end of March where the horse was outpaced in the Kia Tancred Stakes. That came after a solid performance in the Sky High Stakes at Rosehill where the horse followed home Vauban.

Campaldino was four lengths behind Mr Monaco at Rosehill in March, with a seventh-placed finish registered and that came after a fifth-placed finish at the same track. That was in the Parramatta Cup over one mile, one and a half furlong. There were previously victories at Eagle Farm last year where successive wins were notched.
