2026 bet365 Gold Cup Betting Odds at Sandown Park racecourse

Saturday, 25 April 2026

There's a maximum of twenty runners lining up for the bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase, with Havaila potentially the one to beat. Gary & Josh Moore saddle a horse who has clocked up a couple of recent victories, although this is a wide open encounter. Hyland has claims for Nicky Henderson and could be favourably weighted for this long-distance heat.

Resplendent Grey also stands a chance for Olly Murphy and has a high official rating when it comes to this Sandown showdown. Montregard boasts arguably the most impressive form in the race and should be able to last the long distance. Panic Attack might bounce back from falling in the Grand National and claim a victory for Dan Skelton.

2026 bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase Betting Tips

Havaila has been impressive in his previous two showings. The seven-year-old obliged with a victory at Plumpton where the 7/2 favourite was able to oblige over three miles, four and a half furlongs. This came after a Newbury success in March, with a win being landed by seven lengths for the favourite over nearly three miles on good to soft ground.

Hyland is a Nicky Henderson-trained runner, with the nine-year-old having last been seen finishing sixth at the Cheltenham Festival in a competitive race. The horse performed well in the Ultima Handicap Chase and was previously fourth in the Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot. There was also a respectable effort in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase to finish seventh out of twenty-four.

Montregard has won three of his five efforts this season, with Tom Lacey saddling a horse that was seen winning at Ascot in mid-February. In the Swinley Handicap Chase, the runner obliged at odds of 100/30, with that coming over three miles on good to soft ground. That came after finishing second behind The Jukebox Kid in a three-mile encounter at Ascot.

Panic Attack could also go well and the ten-year-old has a chance of lining up considering there was a fall in the Grand National. The horse took an early tumble at Aintree but previously ran well when winning in big fields at Cheltenham and Newbury. The runner was able to finish third in a field of eight in the Mares' Chase at the Festival.

2025 bet365 Gold Cup

High Class Hero has produced some smart showings this season and should be able to compete hard in the bet365 Gold Cup. There was a second placed finish at Thurles last time out in the middle of March and this came after a victory at Punchestown over two miles, six and a half furlongs. That was on soft ground in a beginners chase.

Dancing City is another eight-year-old with credentials and carries three pounds more than the favourite. The horse was a faller at Aintree in early April, while there wasn’t the brightest showing in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase when finishing sixth out of seven runners. There was a triumph at Naas that preceded this.

Captain Cody is a seven-year-old who landed a victory in a field of twenty-three runners at Ayr last time out. This success came in the Scottish Grand National when scoring by a single length over four miles. This level of stamina could serve the horse well in this race at Sandown Park, with this coming after unseating his rider at Cheltenham.

Hoe Joly Smoke has won two of his four outings this term. Dan Skelton saddles a runner who was successful at Sandown Park in March. The runner was able to land a slender victory by a neck and the 9/4 favourite jumped well. Grangeclare West is a nine-year-old who could well have won the Grand National and has claims here.

2024 bet365 Gold Cup Tips

We’ve got a Welsh horse at the head of the betting market when it comes to the bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase, with Kitty’s Light standing a decent chance of following up that solid performance in the Grand National with a victory here. The horse finished fifth at Aintree and looked to have a decent chance of winning the race.

Much will depend on whether the horse has sufficiently recovered from that encounter, with Threeunderthrufive returning to the track after a longer absence and the nine-year-old also has the potential to go well. The horse is carrying more weight than the favourite although there was a win at Ascot in February which bodes well for this encounter.

Nick Rockett is a talented seven-year-old running for trainer Willie Mullins, with the horse last seen finishing seventh in the Irish Grand National. Sent off as the 4/1 favourite on that occasion, the horse performed fairly solidly over three miles and five furlongs on heavy ground. There were previously eye-catching displays at Navan and Fairyhouse.

Amirite has the potential to go well for handler Henry de Bromhead, with the eight-year-old having last been seen finishing fifth out of twenty-seven horses at Leopardstown during the festive season. That was over three miles on soft ground, although the runner could be suited to a longer trip and this will be in evidence on Saturday.

2023 bet365 Gold Cup Tips

Christian Williams saddled Kitty’s Light to a success in the 2023 Scottish Grand National last weekend and the horse might make a swift return to the track to compete in the bet365 Gold Cup. It remains to be seen whether the runner will have been able to recover in time to produce a strong performance although the seven-year-old can’t be discounted.

The horse was able to secure a three-length win over four miles when being sent off as the 4/1 joint-favourite, with this coming after a handicap chase victory at Newcastle, with Revels Hill next in the market and Harry Fry certainly has a talented prospect on his hands. The eight-year-old has been knocking on the door a lot this season.

This horse was last seen running at Exeter towards the end of March, with the 3/1 favourite beaten into second by Coolvalla over three miles, six and a half furlongs, although the horse also ran well in a handicap chase at Ascot in a large field and it would come as no surprise to see this runner make the frame once again.

Annsam has displayed some impressive form and the latest success came at Ludlow in a seven-runner race. That was a two length win in early April and there was previously a success in mid January at Kempton which means the horse has serious credentials. That win came by seventeen lengths although the handicapper has had his way since then.
