2024 Memorial Mares Handicap Hurdle Tips
We’re looking forward to the Memorial Mares' Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton and there could be a big field lining up for an encounter over two miles, five and a half furlongs. There are a number of runners who are able to land a victory, with Pretending among them. She was able to secure the spoils at Uttoxeter when winning over two miles and four furlongs.
Previously to this, there was a fine performance as a favourite at Cheltenham and the horse has regularly been running into a place which suggests that Lucy Wadham trains a runner who could end up scoring again. However, Bethpage has solid credentials and the Emma Lavelle-trained runner can’t be easily ignored.
The six-year-old is carrying less weight than the favourite, with the horse finishing second out of seven runners at Ludlow Racecourse. Previously to this came a third-placed finish out of eleven horses at Worcester, with previous successes occurring at Southwell, Ludlow and Fontwell. The mare could return to the winners’ enclosure again.
Mermaids Cave has been successful throughout her career and there could be more to come from the five-year-old. James Owen trains a runner who was successful at Bangor-on-Dee when the six other runners were defeated and that came after a solid fourth place out of fourteen runners at Cartmel.

Lime Avenue is going to go off as favourite when it comes to this Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, with the six-year-old returning to Wincanton Racecourse after previously obliging with a win here. That took place at the beginning of February and it was one of two victories last term considering there was a Flat race success over two miles at Chepstow back in October 2022.
Ilovethenightlife also has to be respected and was last seen finishing fifth out of eight runners in a novices’ hurdle race at Cheltenham Racecourse. That came after successive wins at Doncaster and Newbury, with the five-year-old having shown that she can perform well on soft ground over long distances along with being able to jump well.
Vicki Vale runs for trainer Dan Skelton and returns this season following some impressive performances last term, with the horse having won at Taunton Racecourse at the end of April. That was in a novices’ hurdle, with the horse previously slipping up as the 4/9 favourite at Kempton in mid-March when losing by eleven lengths.
Plenty Of Time was able to triumph last time out and that was an affair at Wincanton Racecourse, with Sabrina having landed the spoils at Ayr in her previous encounter. That was a solid showing over three miles, half a furlong. Beating favourite Great Snow by three and a half furlongs was pretty substantial and there could be more to come.
