This is a racecourse which spans roughly one mile and two furlongs, with fifteen meetings being staged during the course of a National Hunt season and the race meetings start taking place as soon as the summer has ended, with racegoers treated to a mixture of hurdle and chase races over the course of each racecard.
Taunton is renowned for having a tight racing track and that means that it’s often an advantage to have a horse in a prominent position towards the end of a particular race, while the course tending to be mostly flat which means that the horses can build up to a finish from a long way out.
