2024 Acomb Stakes Betting Odds at York racecourse

Wednesday, 21 August 2024

There are eleven runners lining up in the Tattersalls Acomb Stakes, with York Racecourse hosting this seven furlong encounter. Ruling Court looked the part in his first appearance and the two-year-old could take all the beating, with The Lion In Winter trained by Aidan O’Brien and there could be more to come from a horse who won their first outing.

There is then a big jump up in the betting odds to the other runners, with Wimbledon Hawkeye having run twice this season, while Diablo Roja and Jouncy are other horses that were in the winners’ enclosure last time out. We would recommend looking at an each-way wager if you are considering one of the bigger priced runners.

2024 Acomb Stakes Tips

The Lion In Winter is set to go off as favourite in the Acomb Stakes, with the horse having opened his account with a victory. It was a success by over two lengths in the Juddmonte Chaldean Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden, with the runner obliging on good ground over seven furlongs and that performance was enough to be installed as one of the favourites.

Ruling Court was also victorious in his one and only outing when claiming a victory at Sandown at the end of July, with the horse claiming a five and a half length success when being sent off as the 4/9 favourite. Charlie Appleby’s charge performed to a high level although the standard for the Acomb Stakes will be much stronger.

Wimbledon Hawkeye has had two outings this season and the latest effort was finishing in third place out of six horses in a race at Newmarket. That was in the bet365 Superlative Stakes where Ancient Truth was able to oblige as the odds-on favourite, although the horse was previously successful in the Novice Stakes over seven furlongs at Kempton.

Diablo Rojo was able to oblige with a victory when obliging for trainer Raphael E Freire in a thirteen-runner encounter at Redcar against twelve other runners. Jouncy runs for trainer Andrew Balding, with the horse able to score at Goodwood at the end of July when producing a smart performance when obliging as the 7/4 favourite.
