Aspect Island was seventh on a seasonal debut although the York racing betting sites still think this horse is the most likely winner. The three-year-old was sent off at 33/1 when achieving that midfield effort in the Zyn Abernant Stakes. This came after a previously bright performance in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Cup Sprint at another big price.
Third place was an impressive effort at Del Mar for trainer James Owen, with that coming a few weeks after an October third-placed finish at Newmarket. Once again, the horse was able to outperform his odds of 20/1 in the Cornwallis Stakes. We saw the runner oblige at Yarmouth in September and that was over six furlongs.
Military Code returns for the new season and there have been two runner-up appearances in the space of the three previous efforts. Charlie Appleby's charge was second at Sandown back in July, with that followed by finishing second-last at Goodwood. However, there was a return to form in a listed race over five furlongs when running at York.
Revival Power claimed successive wins last season and Tim Easterby trains a horse that won at York back in August. That success saw Military Code beaten into second and that came before a win in the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster in September. The latest appearance came in October in the Cornwallis Stakes where the horse weakened in the final stages.

There are thirteen runners lining up for the Westow Stakes on Thursday. Aesterius has been able to land two victories from his previous three performances. Archie Watson saw his charge oblige at Longchamp in the Prix d’Arenberg over five furlongs when winning by a length and a half. That came before a success at Doncaster.
That victory came in the Flying Childers Stakes, with the horse seeing off Big Mojo by a narrow margin. That was over five furlongs, with the runner then heading to Del Mar in the Breeders’ Cup meeting. In the Juvenile Turf Sprint, there was a sixth-placed finish in the Grade 1 encounter in the United States although there are other competitors.
Tropical Storm was sixth in his seasonal debut when Andrew Balding saw his charge achieve a midfield finish at Newmarket in early May. That came after finishing fourth out of ten horses at Doncaster, with the best performance so far coming at York. The 5/2 favourite was impressive when landing an August success in a listed race.
Star Of Mehmas was last seen running on the all-weather at Chelmsford on the all-weather, with that coming after a September success at Ayr. That was preceded by all-weather successes at Wolverhampton and Lingfield, with Mr Lightside running for Michael Appleby when the horse was able to finish second on his seasonal debut.
