There are plenty of high-profile races that take place at Wetherby and this includes the Charlie Hall Chase. This Grade 2 encounter tends to occur in November and it’s a testing three miles and one furlong for the runners and riders that line up. This race was inaugurated in 1969, with Fusil Raffles, Bravemansgame and Gentlemansgame some of the most recent winners.
There are a number of dual winners of the Charlie Hall Chase including Wayward Lad, Celtic Shot, Barton Bank, One Man, See More Business and Ollie Magern. The most successful trainer in this race has been Nigel Twiston-Davies who has recorded six winners to date and the latest of these was Ballyoptic.
The Castleford Chase is similarly prestigious and it’s been in operation since 1975 when a horse called Tingle Creek won. Cracking Find, First Flow and Malystic are just some of the horses that have recently landed a victory in this race, while there is also the chance to find the Wetherby Mares’ Hurdle, West Yorkshire Hurdle and Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase on the card.
