It’s going to be a competitive battle at Goodwood Racecourse when it comes to the 2023 William Hill Celebration Mile. The majority of the field have a lively chance of recording a victory, with Aldaary carrying more weight than many of the other runners, although there is plenty to recommend the William Haggas-trained charge.

Charyn runs for trainer Roger Varian and the three-year-old has yet to record a victory this season, with Epictetus managing to score last time out and this is another horse that could go off favourite. Then we have Nostrum who has been showing some smart form for trainer Sir Michael Stoute and the front four in the betting are much shorter than the other runners.

2023 Celebration Mile Tips

Jockey Cieren Fallon is on board Aldaary who is bidding to score for the first time this season and there is plenty to recommend the five-year-old. There was no disgrace in finishing fourth last time out, especially considering that the horse ran in an ultra-competitive Sussex Stakes in an encounter which included hot favourite Paddington.

Charyn has ran six times this season without a victory and the three-year-old runs for trainer Roger Varian boasting the joint-highest rating in the field. David Egan is on board a horse who finished narrowly ahead of Aldaary in that Sussex Stakes, with the runner having performed in esteemed company for the majority of the season.

Epictetus runs for John & Thady Gosden and was previously successful at Goodwood at the beginning of August, with the horse winning the Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes over one mile when beating odds-on favourite Nostrum into second place. The runner was previously well down the order in the much hotter Hampton Court Stakes.

Nostrum will hope to frank the form of that recent Goodwood tussle, with the horse previously demonstrating his worth when obliging in the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes on 13 July. A return to form could be on the cards and this is the fourth horse in the field to be trading at shorter odds than the rest of the field, with Angel Bleu potentially best of the rest.
