2025 Craven Stakes Tips
Field Of Gold ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to the bet365 Craven Stakes. The three-year-old was in the winners’ enclosure a couple of times last season. Last time out, the runner was fourth out of nine horses at Longchamp and that came after a victory at Sandown at the end of August. There was previously a success at Newmarket in July.
Opera Ballo has landed back to back successes, with Charlie Appleby’s runner scoring twice on the all-weather recently. There was a win at Kempton at the end of January and that came before a triumph at the same track a month later. It might yet be the case that the horse will end up going off as favourite.
New Century is trained by Andrew Balding, with the horse finishing fourth out of twelve runners in a top class affair at Del Mar in November. In the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, the horse produced a solid display over a mile and that came after a victory in the bet365 Summer Stakes. There was also a success at Salisbury in August.
Aamori City can’t be discounted and this is another Godolphin horse with solid credentials. There was a third placed finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and that came after finishing fourth in the Vincent O’Brien National Stakes which was a Group 1 affair. Then came a win in the World Pool Stakes at Goodwood.
2024 Craven Stakes Tips
Native Approach has run on the all-weather at Kempton Racecourse a couple of times and there has been everything to like about his performances. He finished second to Cracking Gold in January when performing over seven furlongs, while he returned to the same track a few weeks later to land the spoils in a one mile encounter.
Charlie Appleby will hope his charge continues an upward trajectory after triumphing in the recent maiden stakes, with the three-year-old likely to have Alcantor for company when it comes to the final throes of the encounter. Andre Fabre will be quietly confident that his horse can return to the track and make a big impression.
The three-year-old was last seen running at Saint-Cloud when finishing second out of seven horses and this came after a September victory at the same track. There was previously a Deauville success, with Eben Shaddad running for John & Thady Gosden and this charge has a high overall rating.
The horse was last seen performing well when finishing third out of eight runners in the Group One Dewhurst Stakes, with the 25/1 chance acquitting himself well when following home favourite City Of Troy. Previously to this was another decent showing when finishing third in the Tattersalls Stakes over seven furlongs.
2023 Craven Stakes Tips
The number 11 and 12 horses are likely to be all the rage for the 2023 Craven Stakes, with Mysterious Night having the chance to follow up some impressive wins with another victory in this big money race. The three-year-old has every chance when you consider the wins that were registered at Deauville and Woodbine, with these taking place in the summer and autumn of 2022.
In France, the horse was the facile winner of the Circus Maximus Prix Francois Boutin when being sent off as the 2/5 favourite. The Pattison Summer Stakes victory then followed at Woodbine which was a Grade 1 encounter and this was a sizeable win, with the horse also finishing third in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood last summer.
Naval Power was successful in his last outing and the runner was able to score in the Jumeirah Classic when landing the spoils at betting odds of 1/2. The horse made little to no impact in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes on 8 October, with Charlie Appleby having a strong chance of success by virtue of having the front two in the race.
Knight and Mostabshir come next in the betting and the former has secured back to back wins when scoring at Yarmouth and Newbury, with the latter victory taking place in the Horris Hill Stakes. Meanwhile, Mostabshir has landed one win in a fledgling career and it’s hard to determine how good that four length win at Kempton on the all-weather actually was.
