2025 Formby Novices Hurdle Betting Odds at Aintree racecourse

Friday, 26 December 2025

Mydaddypaddy has been clocking up the wins in his short career to date, with the four-year-old bidding to rack up another victory when it comes to the Formby Novices' Hurdle. There's been plenty to like so far about the horse, although this is far from a given considering Act Of Innocence also lines up for Nicky Henderson.

The five-year-old certainly looks well equipped for the two mile one furlong distance, with Skylight Hustle running for Gordon Elliott. However, Idaho Sun also catches the eye considering the Harry Fry-trained charge has a couple of wins under his belt. Starmound and Diamond Hunter could also make an impression.

2025 Formby Novices' Hurdle Betting Tips

Mydaddypaddy is now odds on to win the Formby Novices' Hurdle, with the four-year-old having won in early December at Haydock Park. It was a straightforward seven-length victory against two opponents, although there had previously been a strong performance at Carlisle when obliging over two miles and a furlong.

Back in March, the horse was able to claim a massive eleven-length success at Huntingdon, with Dan Skelton's charge hoping to continue his 100% record although there are other notable contenders. Act Of Innocence runs for Nicky Henderson and there was an excellent win at Newbury at the end of November.

The 11/10 favourite was able to oblige over two miles and half a furlong on soft ground, with that coming after a defection from the Paul Nicholls stable. Skylight Hustle and Idaho Sun are the other runners who merit consideration. The former goes for Gordon Elliott and the horse was second and first in the two appearances to date.

The five-year-old produced a stunning performance to see off a big field at Fairyhouse. There was lots to like about a display which saw a twenty-one length margin of victory. The 4/5 favourite previously finished second at Gowran Park in early November, with Idaho Sun having racked up successive wins and the five-year-old could be a good each-way wager.

2024 Formby Novices’ Chase Tips

Potters Charm could be the one to beat in the Formby Novices' Hurdle, with the five-year-old bidding for a fourth consecutive victory. There was a success at Cheltenham in mid-November and that came after a win at the same course in October where the runner was able to triumph over two miles and four furlongs.

Bleu De Vassy has been able to record back to back successes and there’s been a lot to like about the Gigginstown runner this season. Gordon Elliott saddles a horse who was triumphant at Navan in the middle of November, with that coming after a monster success at Fairyhouse where the runner was able to oblige over twenty-five lengths.

Romeo Coolio has won on just one of his three outings this term, although the five-year-old has been respected by the bookmakers. He has an identical rating to his stablemate and there was a solid second place out of eight horses at Fairyhouse, with that coming after a smart victory at Down Royal at the beginning of November when winning by eighteen lengths.

Celtic Dino is another horse who could be one for the shortlist and there were successive wins for a runner who is trained by Sam Thomas and could be a decent each-way price. The horse was last seen winning at Ascot when beating five other rivals and there was a lot to like about a success over four lengths.

2023 Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle Tips

Authorised Speed is a talented six-year-old bidding for a consecutive hat-trick of wins. After finishing an impressive fifth place in last year’s Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival (at odds of 50/1), the horse claimed a victory at Lingfield Park in November when triumphing in a Maiden Hurdle.

There was further success in a Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown Park although we don’t know how good this horse is in esteemed company and perhaps the odds have gone a little too short about a runner who will have plenty to beat in the Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle, especially as Tahmuras has been impressive.

Paul Nicholls will have high hopes for a horse who won a fairly competitive Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock Park in mid-November, with the runner obliging as favourite when winning by over five lengths. Previously to this, there had been an eight-length win when claiming a win in a Maiden Hurdle.

Arctic Bresil is the Irish raider who is something of an unknown quantity, with the six-year-old winning a twenty-two runner race when winning a Maiden Hurdle at Cork Racecourse. Nemean Lion and Colonel Harry come next in the betting, with punters advised to compare the best horse racing odds.
