2024 Holland Cooper Handicap Chase Betting Odds at Cheltenham racecourse

Sunday, 17 November 2024

We’ve got an intriguing November race at Cheltenham on Sunday, with Hymac operating as the slight favourite and the horse has won on his previous two outings. The Harry Fry-trained runner could take some beating, although Abuffalosoldier was second in his previous outing and the seven-year-old is also among the market leaders.

Does He Know was fourth last time out and the Kim Bailey-trained runner has solid credentials, while Surrey Quest is a seven-year-old that was in the winners’ enclosure on more than one occasion last term. Manothepeople is a backable each-way price if you think that the Fergal O’Brien-trained runner can build on his third-placed finish last time.

Hymac is bidding for a consecutive hat-trick of victories, with the eight-year-old having recently landed a win at Newton Abbot at the end of October. Sent off as the 13/8 favourite, the horse was able to triumph over two miles, five and a half furlongs. That came after a success at Cheltenham when landing the spoils over three miles and four furlongs.

Abuffalosoldier was fairly solid on his first outing of the current season, with Warren Greatrex seeing his charge land second out of nine horses over three miles in late October, with that coming after two solid performances at Newbury and Ayr. It’s entirely possible that the horse will run into a place and that is reflected in the price.

Does He Know was fourth on his previous outing, with the horse performing well in a field of fourteen runners at Cheltenham at the end of October. Wind surgery could prove beneficial to a horse who was pulled up at Sandown Park at the end of April. However, the runner was able to score at Doncaster in early March.

Surrey Quest hasn’t been seen at a racecourse this season, with Toby Lawes saddling a seven-year-old who finished second out of twenty-six runners at Ayr Racecourse in the Scottish Grand National Handicap. The horse did win at Newbury last December and certainly has the ability to make the frame here.
