Queensland Derby Betting Odds
The Queensland Winter Racing Carnival is packed with high-class races and this includes the Queensland Derby. Eagle Farm Racecourse hosts an encounter over 2,400 metres and there are any number of contenders who can oblige. Accidental Bid could be the one to beat as the Ciaron Maher-trained charge returns for a seasonal debut in this big race.

Monopolistic is a worthy each-way contender, with Providence operating at a similar price and we could see money for the latter. There are others who are capable of hitting the frame including One Step Closer and we recommend considering an each-way wager. Particularly if the bookies are offering extra places on the market.

Accidental Bid was supposed to run in the Group One SA Derby earlier this month although that race has been bypassed and he'll now line up as favourite for the Queensland Derby. Back in his native UK, the runner finished second at enormous odds of 150/1 in a novice stakes race at Thirsk, with the horse less than a length away from victory.
More recently, there was a solid outing at Newmarket when finishing fourteenth in a big field when running in the October Auction Stakes. The runner will come into the big race after featuring in the Rough Habit Plate in Brisbane, with Ciaron Maher expecting a stern challenge from his charge despite being behind his southern hemisphere rivals.
Monopolistic also stands a decent chance and the Chris Waller-trained charge has plenty of experience for a three-year-old. Back in January, we saw a victory for the horse at Canterbury Park over a mile. That came before a midfield finish at Randwick Park in early April before another solid showing at the same course a few weeks later.
Chris Waller could be mob-handed for the Queensland Derby, with Providence having finished second in a field of fourteen at Randwick in mid-April. It was a solid effort in the Group 3 Frank Packer Plate, with that coming after a midfield effort at the same track in the Carbine Club Stakes and this looks like a solid each-way proposition.
