There’s been everything to like about the performances of Sovereignty this season and perhaps the Breeders’ Cup Classic will be landed by the three-year-old. Sierra Leone has only been able to register one victories in four outings this season. Chad C Brown saddles a runner who last ran well at Saratoga despite only finishing second in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes. That came after an early August success in the Grade One Whitney Stakes at Saratoga after a runner-up spot in the Stephen Foster Stakes.
Fierceness can go well for Todd Pletcher and the season has been book-ended by victories so far. There was a win at Del Mar at the end of August where the horse was able to beat Journalism by three lengths. This came in the Pacific Classic Stakes, with the runner able to perform well when obliging in the Alysheba Stakes at Churchill Downs.
